Starting this month the Chamber will be posting a News Letter each month and members are encouraged to submit articles or their own news. Grand openings, Ribbon Cuttings or Open House events will be posted in here. New members are welcome to send a description of their business with location and business hours.

BETTER MEDICAL BENEFITS AT A REDUCED COST

IT’S OFFICIAL!  The Tumwater Chamber of Commerce would like to announce the launch of its latest benefit to Chamber Members.  Effective May 1st, a new program was put in place for business owners to provide reduced cost Medical Benefits to their employees without diminishing the features of the benefit plans.  As a chamber member, you could experience a 5%-7% savings over non-chamber members offering the same plan.  The program offers a nationwide network of service providers, and is the largest network in western Washington.  The program is available to employee groups with as little as 2 people*.

Celebrating National Small Business Week

National Small Business Week is an annual event dedicated to recognizing the nation’s top small business, entrepreneurs, advocates, and champions from across the country.  Every day, small businesses create jobs, drive innovation, support our neighborhoods and cities, and increase America’s global competitiveness.*

During National Small Business Week the Small Business Association (SBA) shines a spotlight on our nation’s 30 million small businesses. Here’s how can you participate:

1.   
Join in the National Small Business Week Virtual Conference on May 7 – 8,  8:00 AM – 2:30 PM for networking and workshops on a variety of business topics. These events are free but registration is required.


2. 
Learn how to drive your business results with Google Ads during the Chamber’s Google Livestream event on May 8, 9:00 – 10:00 AM. You can join us at the Chamber or contact us before to login from your own computer.


3.   
Join the conversation on Twitter on May 10 with an SBA-hosted Twitter chat about starting and growing a business using the hashtag

Volunteer Tour Guides Wanted

The Olympia Tumwater Foundation, in partnership with the City of Tumwater, is seeking summer tour guides to volunteer at the Brewmaster’s House from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on select Sundays: June 2, July 7, August 11, September 1, and one other Sunday later in September, date TBA. Two tour guides are needed for each day. Training and supervision will be provided by the Olympia Tumwater Foundation. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, have transportation to and from the site, be reliable, able to interact with and provide excellent customer service to visitors, and be able to navigate stairs, narrow walkways, and uneven surfaces with agility. Preference will be given to those with an interest in history and available for more than one date. Volunteers are encouraged to apply as soon as possible! Contact the City for details and referral. History Talk: Historic Rails to Modern Trails at Tumwater Falls Park12 noon – 1 p.m. | Thursday, May 9 | The Schmidt House

The City of Tumwater Parks & Recreation Director, Chuck Denney, will highlight the new Deschutes Valley Trail extension of the Thurston County Trail system during “Historic Rails to Modern Trails at Tumwater Falls Park”. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., admission is free.

FRESH Program Spring Plant Sale Tumwater High School Greenhouse 12 noon, May 6-10th | 10 a.m.-2 p.m., May 11th
FRESH students have hanging baskets, vegetable starts, and bedding flowers available in the greenhouse at Tumwater High School. Select your plants and students will make a custom basket or container. Get your Mother’s Day shopping done and support the FRESH program.
